Western Australia celebrates Labour Day for the achievements of 8-hour work/day implementation. Labour Day in Western Australia celebrated on the first Monday of March. It took a long struggle to get this achievement. There was a huge protest against long working hours as people used to work for 10 to 12 hours per day. At last, their protest could earn them reduced work 8 hours/day on April 21, 1856.
Today Labour day is celebrated to remember those who fought and won this battle to secure more humane working conditions.
The first ever Labour Day parade held April 21, 1856, in Melbourne, Australia.
